§ 3.09. When Ordinances and Resolutions Take Effect.

  • A resolution or an emergency ordinance is effective immediately upon its passage or at such later date as is fixed in it. An ordinance that is expressly excepted from referendum under section 5.01 of this Charter is effective on the day following publication or such later date as is fixed in it. Every other ordinance is effective on the 30th day after the day of publication or at such later date as is fixed therein. Every ordinance adopted by the voters of the City is effective immediately upon its adoption, or at such a later time as fixed therein.
